We were lucky to be part of the Home Truths Exhibition at the Byre Gallery in partnership with Cultivator. An exhibition of Art, Craft, Jewellery and Sculptural works by Cultivator Start up Graduate Artists.
Here we talk about how Cultivator have helped us and what it means to be part of the Home Truths exhibition.
We were so excited for the opportunity to meet the HRH The Countess of Wessex, who recently visited Krowji, during a two-day trip to Cornwall.
We were chosen from a hat to present the HRH The Countess of Wessex with a gift from our collection. We selected and hand crafted the double and single pod pendent in Sterling Silver and Chalcedony. The piece was inspired by a original seaweed sculpture found along the rugged coastline around Mounts Bay.
“The Countess met with studio-holders and Creative Kernow project staff in the Melting Pot Café including Cornwall 365, Miracle Theatre and Cornwall Museums Partnership. She was presented with a gift by Amanda Maltwood of MAMM + MYRGH Goldsmiths. The classic sterling silver Pod Pendant, commissioned by Krowji and created by MAMM + MYRGH was inspired by seaweed found along the Cornish coast and it is hoped will serve as a small, handcrafted reminder of her trip to Cornwall’s largest creative hub. It was such an honour to meet HRH The Countess of Wessex and present her with our piece of Cornwall. Thank you to the Krowji who hosted the visit and who do so much to promote the work of so many talented craftspeople.

This bank holiday weekend KROWJI is taking part in the Open studios Cornwall and we will be welcoming craft lovers to our W12 studio with an array of beautiful handmade MAMM + MYRGH pieces for sale plus its a really amazing opportunity to talk to us about our bespoke and repairs service. There are around 50 designers taking part so it would be a brilliant day out to get inspired and take home some beautifully crafted pieces.

We recently exhibited in New Designers 2016 show at the Business Design Centre in Islington, it was a fantastic show and an amazing opportunity to launch our new collections! While we were there we got an opportunity to meet Jayne Coulson an editor from The Guild Of Jewellery Designers. She wrote a lovely piece about MAMM + MYRGH in the New Designer 2016 article.

“A lovely story here: Amanda was a jobbing jeweller who was persuaded by her daughter to pursue a degree at Truro and explore her artistic talents. Now mother and daughter have teamed up and gone into business together, creating Mamm & Myrgh (Cornish for Mother & Daughter). The story is lovely enough on its own, but the jewellery that this talented pair have created is lovelier - sensitive and tactile pieces inspired by the sea and by the John Waterhouse painting ‘A Mermaid’. Chain links are designed like seaweed pods, embellished with gemstones and special attention has been lavished on the surface finish, leaving it fresh and suede-like.
